Recently, this traditional food pyramid has been the cause of much controversy. Some researches have suggested that the USDA's food pyramid is severely outdated and does not take into account recent discoveries, such as the important difference between simple and complex carbohydrates. Below is the Health Eating Pyramid developed by the Harvard School of Public Health.
